The search has resumed today for a man still missing after a light plane crash off the south coast yesterday. The body of the other man onboard was recovered with significant head injuries on the ocean surface near debris and an oil slick yesterday. The ultralight plane “fell” out of the sky about 1.5km east of Mossy Point, south of Batemans Bay, at 12.10pm.

Far South Coast Local Area Command crime manager Kevin McNeil said search crews were hopeful of finding the wreckage in the water today, but the search for the second man onboard could be more difficult. “We will hopefully find the wreckage, the conditions are good today, but finding the missing person could be more problematic,” Inspector McNeil said. “We won’t know more until the divers get down there, but we’ve got plenty of resources, so we’ll see how we go.” He said search crews would work throughout the day today and resume again tomorrow if both the wreckage and the missing man are not found.
