The Bird Strike Association of Canada is proud to welcome a diverse group of industry leaders, researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers to the 2026 Conference. These speakers bring a wealth of expertise in aviation safety, wildlife management, environmental stewardship, and emerging technologies. Their presentations will explore innovative approaches, lessons learned, and future trends, helping attendees better understand and address the evolving risks facing airports and the aviation industry.

Andrea Brown

Andrea Brown

Biologist, FALCON

Read Bio

Andrea Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology and a master’s degree in quantitative biology from McGill University, where she focused her research on developing species distribution models to assess how climate change will impact Canadian birds. Since she started working for Falcon Environmental Inc. in March of 2023, she has been involved in behavioural surveys for protected species, data analysis for airport research projects and several Airport Wildlife Management Plans. 

David Bradbeer

David Bradbeer

Wildlife Program Coordinator, Vancouver Airport Authority

Read Bio

David Bradbeer is the wildlife program coordinator for the Vancouver Airport Authority. He is responsible for coordinating the YVR Wildlife Management Program, including risk assessments, strategic development of mitigation measures, and performance review. David obtained a B.Sc.(agroecology) in 2004 and a M.Sc. (wildlife management) in 2007, both from the University of British Columbia. His past work experience includes delivery of agricultural stewardship programs on the Fraser River delta and a variety of waterfowl research and survey projects.

Devon Harris

Wildlife Management Specialist, Transport Canada Civil Aviation

Devon Harris is the Wildlife Management Specialist at Transport Canada, Civil Aviation. Devon received her B.Sc. in Environmental Science from Carleton University. Devon has worked at Transport Canada for over 10 years, and transitioned into this role in early 2017. Devon currently sits as the Transport Canada representative for Bird Strike Committee Canada, as well as is an active member of the ICAO Wildlife Management Hazard Expert Group.

Fabio Masci

Fabio Masci is a former Italian Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and F-16 Instructor Pilot with approximately 2,500 flight hours and extensive NATO operational experience, including real operations DELIBERATE FORGE, ALLIED FORCE, ODYSSEY DAWN and UNIFIED PROTECTOR. A graduate of the Accademia Aeronautica and holder of a degree in Civil Protection Coordination from the University of Perugia, he served as Flight Safety Officer at the 5° Stormo (Cervia) and at the NATO Tactical Leadership Programme in Albacete, where he pioneered the first bio-environmental wildlife hazard management team in the Italian Air Force — a methodology subsequently adopted across virtually all ITAF departments. As Founder and CEO of THE EDGE COMPANY S.r.l., Masci brings to BCMS® VENTUR a unique convergence of operational aviation expertise, certified flight safety methodology (CRM Instructor, ITAF Flight Safety Officer), and deep first-hand knowledge of wildlife strike hazard management at both national and international level. His military career — marked by commendations for innovative approaches to flight safety, F-16 operational manual authorship, and leadership of multinational teams — directly informs the system’s design philosophy: rigorous, human-centred, and operationally proven. 

Jason Botting

Jason Botting is an Airport Manager and Trainer with over 25 years of experience in airport wildlife management and aviation safety, currently with Falcon Environmental Inc. His career began in frontline wildlife operations and has progressed into senior leadership, combining hands-on operational experience with a strong focus on training, safety management systems, and human factors. Jason has worked extensively with airport authorities and aviation stakeholders across Canada, supporting the development and delivery of effective, risk-based wildlife management programs. In his current role, he oversees Falcon Environmental’s military operations and manages wildlife risk programs at major Canadian airports, including Calgary International (YYC), Winnipeg Richardson International (YWG), and Montréal–Trudeau International (YUL). He is widely recognized within the industry for building competent, safety-focused teams, advancing industry best practices, and contributing to national forums and conferences focused on reducing wildlife strike risk and enhancing overall airfield safety. 

Marcella Mondin

Marcella Mondin is a Professional Biologist specializing in wildlife management, with a focus on reducing human wildlife conflict in complex environments. Based at YYC Calgary International Airport, Marcella co-leads wildlife programs that balance aviation safety with ecological stewardship. She is also the cofounder of Climate Change Canada, an initiative dedicated to empowering Canadians to understand their climaterelated health risks and how they can take meaningful, informed action. With expertise spanning wildlife behaviour, risk mitigation, and public engagement across number industries, Marcella brings a practical, forwardlooking perspective to the challenges and opportunities facing the aviation and conservation sectors today. 

Maxime Allard

Director of Science, FALCON

Maxime Allard holds a master’s degree in biology from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), where he studied forest ecology and bird communities associated with mature forests. He started working for FALCON as a Wildlife control officer in 2006. Since 2022, as the Director of Science, he and his science team have tackled specific wildlife issues airports have been facing, either in Canada and abroad. He drafted over 150 airport wildlife programs. His main strength is about using data-driven and advanced statistical analysis to support operational changes to airport wildlife programs. 

Pierre Molina

Pierre Molina

President & CEO, FALCON

Pierre Molina, biologist and President & CEO at Falcon Environmental Services, has over 20 years of experience in wildlife management. He provides services primarily to airports, as well as public inquiries related to nuisance wildlife, protected species and the environment. He has helped improve wildlife programs at several airports, participated in the development and review of 33 Airport Wildlife Plans, and trained over 600 wildlife management specialists worldwide. Over the past few years, his team has developed an innovative approach and software for airport wildlife risk assessment based on SMS, as well as monitoring programs built around Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Mr. Molina has been involved with the Bird Strike Committee Canada since 2011, first as a member of the board of directors, and has served as BSAC Co-Chair for the past several years.

Shel Graupe

Shel Graupe

Technical Manager, Wildlife Services, SGS Canada Inc.

Shel Graupe (MSc. P. Biol.) is a biologist and for the past 7 years has been the Technical Manager, Wildlife Services with SGS Canada Inc. Shel grew up in a rural agricultural setting in the prairie province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The connection to his surrounding environment on the farm spawned his passion for conservation biology and animal/avian ecology. Before attending post-secondary Shel worked as a professional driver, successful salesperson and was the owner/operator of a waterfowl outfitting business. Following his passion, Shel manufactured the opportunity to begin his academic journey and subsequently graduated college with a Diploma in Renewable Resource Management and a Certificate in Fish & Wildlife Technology. From there the allure of the far north resulted in a move to northwestern Yukon where Shel became the Director of Natural Resources for a self-governing First Nation. Later, after relocating closer to family, he became the Superintendent of 2 provincial parks in Saskatchewan. Shel also served on the provincial management team for Ducks Unlimited Canada until moving to his current position.

While maintaining full-time professional positions he concurrently furthered his academics by achieving a Master of Science (Environment, Management and Leadership), and then a P. Biol. designation. Shel describes himself as having a very diverse and resourceful skill set that was developed by the variety of blue-collar and white-collar work he has performed, his personal outdoor interests and pursuits, and academia. All of this has led to the specialized and critical work he is doing to modernize and drastically improve bird & wildlife (detection, deterrence and data) services. 

Tim J. Nohara

Tim J. Nohara, is an internationally recognized surveillance expert, with a bachelors, masters and Ph.D in electrical & computer engineering, a licensed professional engineer and a member of the IEEE. He is the author of numerous peer reviewed technical publications, reports and patents in surveillance. He founded Accipiter Radar over 30 years ago who has successfully pioneered user friendly, radar-based, collaborative, decision support solutions that allow safety & security practitioners along with business stakeholders to understand what is happening in their outdoor environments, be it in the air, on the water, or on land so they can keep us safe.  

Dr. Nohara has led multiple industry firsts including the development of affordable 3D avian radar for civil and military airports certified under FAA Advisory Circular 150/5220-25 and DoD’s Environmental Security Technology Certification Program, as well as a smart surveillance network operated by Suncor across a large swath of the oil sands in Northern Alberta configured as an automatic radar-activated deterrent system that protects birds by persuading them from landing on tailings ponds.
